Here are my favorites:

A Passion For Food (http://apassionforfood.blogspot.com/)
The Girl Who Ate Everything (http://www.roboppy.net/food/)

It makes me hungry just thinking about these blogs! Please share your favorites :D

Although I am not a vegan, I really like the vegan lunchbox blog. (http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/) There are a lot of great tips for us who pack lunch.

And I *really* want to order me a Mr. Bento. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000246GSO/qid=1149702444/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/103-0689139-0801431?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=284507) There is this version (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000246GSE/qid=1149702444/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-0689139-0801431?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=284507) which holds four smaller containers instead of three larger, as in the first link.

A friend of mine is creating (it's a work in progress) a cheese review/database website at http://cheesereviews.org and he's also (quixotically) finding and reviewing every cheese mentioned in the famous Monty Python sketch at http://beavercheese.org.

"Quite right, sir."

I have long "polluted" my kids with classic comedy; the Marx Bros., Monty Python ... in a weak moment, the Best of Mr. Bill videos ... my 18 year old can recite the cheese shop bit and several others. We all quote Python and Fawlty Towers regularly.

Back OT ... I remember seeing quite a list of food blogs on Gail Jennings' hawaiidiner.com, should you need some foodie blog choices from whence to vote.

Jon's adventures in even finding some of those varieties are funny. Not Eric Idle or Jon Cleese funny, but funny nonetheless. So are his comments about the cat's likes/dislikes among the cheeses. There's a blog at the Beaver Cheese site.

Here's a link to that list of blogs. Gail's Master List of Food Blogs (http://www.hawaiidiner.com/articles/article.php?article=424). So much food, so little time...

Gail's HawaiiDiner.com (http://www.hawaiidiner.com/) and 'Ono Kine Grindz (http://onokinegrindz.typepad.com/ono_kine_grindz/) are regular reads for me.

Today I just stumbled across Lindy's Ono Recipes (http://www.lindysonorecipes.com/), the blog of a cool lady I met at the Flickr meetup who goes by the Flickr handle Kitchen Mama (http://www.flickr.com/photos/90016456@N00/). Good thing my dear wife is cooking up some thick, juicy steaks as I type, 'cause man, I'm really hungry now!

I regard Ono Kine Grindz as the quintessential food blog. It really makes me miss all the great food back there. Shiokadelicious was another one I really liked, but sadly it's gone away.

Wow... Lindy has some ono looking grindz! Apple(command)+D that one.

I recently started The Tasty Island (http://tastyisland.wordpress.com/) (shameless plug), where I need to work on discipline as far as updating it regularly. My last update was weeks ago. Ack! I spend more time on HT than on my own blog. :o

Question:
When folks leave comments, is it proper etiquette to reply to every one in show of appreciation, or do you just leave the comments alone?

I'm new at blogging, so any tips on blog etiquette would be appreciated.

I feel if a reader took the time to leave a comment on my Blog, I surely can show my appreciation to reply to the person. When you recieve comments from the same readers you will also find you have made new friends too. :D

With my Hawaii Political Blogs (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?t=10683) roll-call underway, of course I couldn't resist revisiting this thread to build a "Hawaii Food Blog" collection. There've been many great sites noted so far, some written by folks we know here at HT, so having toured them all and browsed their respective blogrolls, here's what I've got so far for Hawaii-focused or Hawaii-based food blogs (or feeds, like Kaukau Corner or the Hawaii section at eGullet Forums):

Big Island Grinds (http://www.bigislandgrinds.com/) by James (Feed (http://www.bigislandgrinds.com/feed/))
The Free Range Gourmet (http://www.freerangegourmet.com/) by Larry (Feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/FreeRangeGourmet))
HawaiiDiner.com (http://www.hawaiidiner.com/podcasts/index.php) by Gail (Feed (http://www.hawaiidiner.com/rss/rssfeed.xml))
Kaukau Time! (http://kaukautime.blogspot.com/) by Reggie (Feed (http://kaukautime.blogspot.com/rss.xml))
Lindy's Ono Recipes (http://www.lindysonorecipes.com/) by Lindy (Feed (http://www.lindysonorecipes.com/feed/))
Ma'ona (http://maona.net/) by Alan (Feed (http://maona.net/index.xml))
NattoKun (http://nattokun.blogspot.com/) by Jupiter (Feed (http://nattokun.blogspot.com/rss.xml))
Ono Kine Grinds (http://onokinegrindz.typepad.com/ono_kine_grindz/) by Reid (Feed (http://onokinegrindz.typepad.com/ono_kine_grindz/rss.xml))
Sonia Tastes Hawaii (http://www.soniatasteshawaii.com/) by Sonia (Feed (http://www.soniatasteshawaii.com/index.rdf))
The Tasty Island (http://tastyisland.wordpress.com/) by Pomai (Feed (http://tastyisland.wordpress.com/feed/))
eGullet Forums - Hawaii (http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showforum=128) (Feed (http://forums.egullet.org/ssi.php?a=out&f=128&show=10&type=rss))
HawaiiThreads.com - Kaukau Korner (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7) (Feed (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=7))
Of course, there are lots of blogs by Hawaii expats elsewhere, but I'm starting at home. Any I've missed? I really want to stress test Google Reader (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?t=10640). :)

Google Reader has had me revisiting my favorite food sites as well, so here are two that nobody's mentioned:

The Food Section (http://www.thefoodsection.com/foodsection/)
The Petite Pig (http://thepetitepig.typepad.com/the_petite_pig/)

That second one isn't updated very often, but it's written by Jess Dang, that cutie who was the first eliminated from The Next Food Network Star last spring.

Heads up, blog-friendly foodies! Despite being somewhat quiet lately, Reid of 'Ono Kine Grindz was pleasantly surprised to learn that he is (again) a nominee for the Food Blog Awards (http://onokinegrindz.typepad.com/ono_kine_grindz/2007/01/interesting.html) for the "Restaurant Reviews" category. Voting is being conducted here (http://wellfed.net/2007/01/03/top-5-best-food-blog-restaurant-reviews/) at the Well Feed Network. Good luck, Reid! No matter what, you're a winner in my book.

The full list of nominees (http://wellfed.net/) meanwhile, might give you some great new reading material.

I just dropped a vote in for Reid's OKG. He's been slackin' lately on posting, but still, his Blog is one of the best Hawaii has to offer. If you dig deep in his archives, he's got so much interesting content! Mahalo Ryan for the 411 on that!

Speaking of which, I just updated mine with a post about Sunny Side Pies in Wahiawa....

reid is definitely a winner! he is a classy kinda guy, even when the rare troll pops up in his blog. and the pics he takes are drool-worthy. the beau and i, when discussing where to go to eat, often find ourselves saying, "reid says this place is really good," or "according to reid, this place is kinda bleh," as if he were someone we actually knew personally in real life. whether we really know him or not, we obviously hold his food opinions in high regard.

My Google reader currently tracks:

Curd Nerds (http://www.curdnerds.com) for cheese-lovers (and who's not a cheese-lover?).
Dessert First (http://dessertfirst.typepad.com), mentioned earlier.
I Love Nacho Cheese (http://ilovenachocheese.com), infrequently updated, but cute.
Rookie Cookery (http://andreayaya.typepad.com), one of my favorites.
Serious Eats (http://seriouseats.com).
SlashFood (http://www.slashfood.com), another favorite. One regular feature I like is the "_______ in Sixty Seconds" (http://www.slashfood.com/category/in-sixty-seconds/), where a quick run-down (with links) is given of a newspaper's food section, as in "The Boston Globe in Sixty Seconds," or of a whole magazine, as in "Every Day with Rachael Ray in Sixty Seconds."
The Tasting Room (http://www.foodandwine.com/blogs/tastingroom), with an emphasis on wine and food.
The Food Section (http://www.thefoodsection.com), which I linked earlier.
Vinography (http://www.vinography.com), a wine blog.

I hope to see him back soon and send best wishes for many, many wonderful meals.Reid's still alive and kicking. Just burnt out on food blogging. I get that way sometimes, too. It can be all-consuming (no pun intended).

Scrivener is partially to blame for getting me started on food blogging, thanks to this thread (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?t=8848&highlight=flock).

On the plus-side (not body-wise!), it keeps you thinking about new ideas and inspires you to venture out.

On the minus-side, you're a slave to the food at hand, your camera, and your thought process, always trying to capture that "food moment". But how bad can THAT be?!

Ultimately, food is all about sharing the enjoyment of life, and worth writing about.

Ono Kine Grindz is the ultimate Hawaii Food Blog and sets the standard for all of us to aspire to. As long as the site stays online, it will be 'Googled' time and time again for, well, ONO KINE GRINDZ!.

Arigato and mahalo Reid for all you've done and will do in the future!

Kanpai!

As long as you enjoy doing it, it is truly fun. At this point for me, I like nothing better then to sit down to meal and not have to do any of those things. The luxury of simply being in that moment and not having to wait to get the perfect shot before I take a bite is sheer bliss. I truly do appreciate those (like you, Pomai) who embrace the adventure and the labor of food blogging.
