Been there, done that. Fortunately I managed to work enough "quarters" so that I am retired with Social Security checks each month.

A list of the places I worked in my long life would probably exceed space limits here. :)

I'm a newly retired senior. At times I still substitute at the school I was employed at...but now school has ended. That's why I have had the time to do these DB. I can't believe that there are so many DB's a person can read and participate in if they so choose. :)

hey adri1456, sorry i am replying so late to your question.

it pays well but not if you are at the bottom of the totem pole like me. also it doesn't pay as well as on the mainland.

you are pursuing an IT major? you are at heald, do they have a bachelor's program for IT? do you have any real work experience? if you have zero experience, you are in for a rude awakening when you go job hunting. employers don't care how smart you are or how good you know your stuff, without experience you'll be hard pressed to find a job especially in the IT field. i have a bachelor's in computer science and a cisco ccna certification and had an incredibly hard time finding a job (who knows, maybe my interview skills suck). i feel lucky to have gotten the job i have now. now, i am hoping to just pay my dues and rise up the ladder.

specifically what field in IT are you looking at? networking, programming, database, web, etc??

Then I got a job as a computer operator at Kaiser
Then I got a job at the Advertiser as a casual clerk, editorial assistant, proofreader, intern, staff writer and copy editor
Then I got a job at PBN
Then I got a job at PRWorks (ugh)
Then I got a job at home: MOMMA
Then I was crazy enough to take a job at a media monitoring service
(Hit me on the HEAD, puh-lease!)
Meanwhile, I drummed up clients and did free-lance writing full time
And that's what I do most of the time now, but I also got a job as an editor and webmistress. I love the commute, everyone goes west into town, I go east past Sandy Beach.

Boy do I feel old, when the generic smiley face which surfaced about thirty five, (yes, 35) years ago... is NOW equated to one of the most ubiquitous commercials representing a cheap mass merchandiser.
This is how "pop culture" denigrates... to nothingness.

Off the top of my head, the best place I can think of is Rainbow Books on University and King-when I was last there in Dec '03 they had an out of print Hawaiiana book that I had been looking for for years! How long ago did I post that, I worked 7 years and was laid off about 3 times, hired back each and everytime. Dont have time now to work with watching 2 infants all day long, need to spend time with my family when they are all present.

However, I do research for the networks and siblings of celebrities looking for old video footage. It brings in some cash here and there.

Was in commercial real estate and cashed out my strip centers and mini malls and now will be hanging out on Waikiki beach every day surfing and swing trading microcap stocks and gold stocks and energy stocks and biotech stocks and forex and euros and yen every night. No bosses and no commuting.
Every couple months will be flying to my favorite cities of Paris and Rome and Cairo and Singapore and Bangkok and others. One really needs a frequent vacation from being on the beach all the time.

Too Funny! You're joking right? If you're not...I'm not impressed. Nope, not one bit. I know moa betta and seen betta profiles of many (cough cough) good looking gentlemen! HAHAHAHAHAHA! :p

Sorry Auntie Em but not too familiar with Polynesian ghetto slang and never attended public schools but think its spelled m-o-r-e and b-e-t-t-e-r.
And am sure in your lithium-addled brain at least you have so many wealthy upper class gents beating a path to your tastefully decorated pad in the projects that you have to beat them off with your ugly stick.
hehe...
And we'll keep throwing our quarters in your tin cup every time we drive past you sitting in Ala Moana park.

No. But if you're in the newsroom sitting between them, and Erika doesn't work out of the newsroom, SUCH INTRIGUE!
