Aloha and welcome to HT.
Just a quick question... Have you been to the Hawaii before?
Or do you just love islands... There are other islands besides ones in the Pacific Ocean...
j/k...
Welcome to HT and hope you have fun on the Big Island!

Aloha and Welcome to HawaiiThreads.com
I'm Auntie Lynn.
Malama pono.
"Malama Pono. Most grandparents will tell you this Hawaiian word. Malama means to treasure and Pono means property. It means to hold on to things, preserve it, treasure it, our property. ;)

mahalo pono would mean something like:
thank you in the righteous manner, the right way.
If you want to convey simply
"take care'
then you would say
'take care'

ok this is right! I got mahalo on the brain, I live in san diego and we allways say mahalo or gracias... :o
what I meant to say was Malama pono! I was told it can translate to many things from what Auntie has said to "Take good care of your self"
Aloha and Mahalo Auntie Lynn!

that's all well and good. but its overuse ain't cool. there is a propensity for many to start and end communiques with Aloha and mahalo too much. waters it down.
mahalo is NOT just a way to close an online post.
It means something.
