  • Hawaiian Tel Service - Windy Weather

Anyone else having troubles? My DSL is fine, but last night I lost dial tone (still had power to the phone) and I'm getting half rings off and on when heavy gusts hit. Dial tone is back, but calls aren't coming through reliably. I filled out a trouble report online (3 times), but can't get a trouble report number to review any activity on the problem.
May I always be found beneath your contempt.

Yes, but I didn't think of the wind! I thought the lack of dial tone might be a cordless phone problem so I set it back in it's cradle for a minute. That seemed to correct the problem the 4 or 5 times it occurred. Maybe it was a coincidence? My DSL has been fine, too.

i use DSL on a wireless modem. I've had to power down the modem several times this week to reset it. I don't know if that was because of the wind or not but I have not had the problem before this past few days.

Trouble call came out on friday, tested the line outside and found the problem was in the other direction (toward the local line center). Received my first call today. Not bad response time, but their online trouble ticket system completely failed me - I had to call the problem in for it to register. All those half rings turned out to be incoming calls that were immediately disconnecting due to shorts.

I have Hawn Tel coming to check my line tomorrow. They said there is "interference" on my DSL line when they test it. Suggested that maybe a wire has come loose at the box outside. it's been working fine all weekend but who knows when it may stop....................
