Sean Penn's beautiful film about a young man who gives up society to live in Alaska is awesome. One of the best movies I've ever seen. Beautiful, deep, true, adventurous, sad, occasionally funny, real, at times very touching. Based on a real-life novel. Emile Hirsch(Jay in The Lords Of Dogtown)is great and a future star.

Did you read the book? I enjoyed the film but found some of what I thought I remembered from the book changed. Like his having a firearm.

I read the book a few years back, but haven't seen the film.

I never read the book, but this beautiful film makes me want to read it.

Krakauer is an excellent writer. I've enjoyed his other books. I read "Into Thin Air" initially and then "Into the Wild" when it first was published.

How did that bus get there in the first place?

The article states why the bus got there in a middle of nowhere.

They just helicoptered that old bus out of the wilderness because so many people would try to hike out to it and get stranded. 0_0 It was a death trap.
