Thumbs up Natural Attraction!

Nu'uanu Pali State Wayside (Pali Lookout) is the #1 Hawaii tourist attraction!
Per a survey written about in this morning's Advertiser newspaper.

The main photo is of "A Menehune Man Cache!" area.

I sent an email to the DLNR requesting restroom facilities, or at least porta-potties for up there considering the amount of visitors. We'll see.

Here's a link to the article.

M Man,

Congrats on making the news. A great picture too. I miss those long days on top of the shrouded peaks. BTW, still 0-0 on caches here in SD. I am going to a Meet and Greet next week though.

Here's the response I received back from the DLNR PIO.

Aloha Jeff, thanks for your question which was referred to the Division of State Parks. Nuuanu Pali is a wayside area, which is more of a brief stopover point than a place where people stay to picnic, camp etc. These facilities tend not to have restrooms. Also , the Pali wayside is in a restricted watershed area, so in-ground sewage disposal is not allowed At one point State Parks did have a concessionaire at the park who was required to have portapotties (he had to pay for them), but when his operation was not successful, the portapotties were removed. We hope that people plan in advance to go where there are facilities.

Sincerely
DLNR Public Information Office

Hmmmm. I wonder if DLNR would have a place that they could suggest for CITO? They are hosting a few caches for us I think.
