  • Oahu's TV broadcast antenna sites

I take KITV's broadcast antenna is still on top of the Ala Moana Hotel and KHON's broadcast antenna is still on top of the Century Center building.
So where does KGMB, KHNL and KVFE have their broadcast antennas now a days?

Re: Oahu's TV broadcast antenna sites

KGMB KHNL KFVE transmitters I think are located on the slope of the Waianae mountains. There was a concerted effort to move transmitters away from urban Honolulu, which to me is stupid since the bulk of the population live in the urban core.

KHON and KITV are within the core on the places mentioned in the original post. I think KBFD and KWHE are located on a transmitter in downtown Honolulu. All of these are at the top of high buildings, in the urban core.

When digital TV was introduced in 2009, the distance for which the signals can reach were reduced from the time it was analog. In return though, instead of signal degradation of analog (snow) with digital you either get a great picture or nothing at all.

The nice thing about OTA is that several of the main channels have sub-channels that you can watch with alternate networks such as MeTV and COZI.

Plug in your location and see what is available here:

    Or here: https://www.antennaweb.org/
    I'm still here. Are you?
