    Dancing With The Stars - Season 9

    The celebrity lineup for DWTS - Season 9 has just been announced:

    And now, there's a Hawaii connection on BOTH sides of the floor:
    Mark Dacascos (best known as "The Chairman" on Iron Chef America) will be one of sixteen contestants.

    Macy Gray and Kelly Osbourne? OMG! Can't wait!

    Who's the pro with the Hawaii connection? I briefly scanned your 2 links but I musta missed it! I've not met Mark but his sister used to audition with me, way back when! Pretty gal!

      Sorry for not being more clear!

      My reference to a "Hawaii connection on the other side of the floor" assumes that Carrie-Ann Inaba is returning as one of the judges for Season 9, which I think is confirmed, yes?

          Well, just plain, ol' DUH on my part!!! I was hoping either Pono Aweau or Mark Kanemura from So You Think You Can Dance was going to come onboard as a pro!

          I haven't heard anything to the contrary about Carrie-Ann. And I'm still shaking my head over Macy and Kelly!

              I dunno, WB...I'm an Osmond fan, always have been. But, I'm really pulling for Macy Gray...if she gets as far as the dance floor on the first night. And I can't imagine the show allowing a mic anywhere near Kelly!

                    Hey - Lil Kim served time in prison & everyone seemed to like her & root for her. If Macy Gray is no longer using & has cleaned up her life (and I'm assuming thats the case or DWTS wouldn't have chosen her to compete), lets not be unkind. Even if it's true, she deserves to be given the same chance as everyone else on the show. Kelly Osborne is not exactly miss goody goody and she has had her own drug problems.

                    TS - I know you have many more connections in show business that most on here, certainly far more than myself so I trust what you have to say about celebrities. However, I just don't care if Macy Gray had drug problems or has track marks on her arms. The question is, can she kick some a** on the dance floor? It should prove to be a very interesting season!

                          Fran...I really am pulling for Macy Gray. That said, I've, not once, seen her interviewed when she's appeared drug free. She will bring a very interesting twist to DWTS...as will Kelly Osbourne. Both are very well known for their unconventional behavior. That's what will make DWTS interesting this next season.

                          I thought Lil Kim was great. She was a far cry from her Grammies/pasty days. I was relieved when she and the show finally stopped playing up her prison time. She held her own when it came to dancing. Possibly Macy and Kelly will do the same (I hope so) but their public behavior indicates they could make very, very interesting contestants! IOW...they'll make good TV which equates to the bottom line of every show...MONEY!

                            A darkhorse winner could be Mark Dacasco with his Kung Fu moves and how much Latin is in him.

                              Yeah, that's what I think, too!

                              Can't remember where I saw it...
                              But one website (alluding to one of Dacascos' movie roles and his "Iron Chef America" role) posted: "Have you ever seen Brotherhood of the Wolf? The Chairman's got moves! Dacascos could be this season's Gilles!"

                              And Gilles Marini himself thinks that Dacascos will have an advantage:

                              Gilles isn't picking favorites, but he says "Iron Chef America" host Mark Dacascos "can do wonder."
                              Mark is known as an actor but he's also a mixed martial artist. Both of the star's parents were former national champions and teachers.

                              Gilles' sex appeal and rock-hard abs helped him in the competition, and he thinks Mark has "physicality that's gonna give him an edge."
