    Re: "Lost" Season 3

They may have, actually. I hear from lots of people who want to do stuff with "LOST" locations (most recently from the UK!). If I can't help I point them to "Lost Virtual Tour," which is almost frighteningly thorough. And by the way, I got the author and book wrong. It was Lynette Porter who wrote "Unlocking the Mysteries of LOST." Last March, my wife and I recorded this review of an advance copy.

But this has nothing to do with the episode we just saw, of course...

Favorite thought circulating right now? That the bus accident wasn't orchestrated by DHARMA, and that the recruiter's supposedly feigned confusion was genuine. What if Juliet has powers similar to those ascribed to Walt? That which she wants, she can will into reality? From the bus, to her sister's pregancy? Hmm...

Maybe Juliet has just "willed" herself off of the island(s).

        Re: "Lost" Season 3

There's also the question of time. Not time travel, which the creators insist isn't in play, but time anomolies, and general time studies. This has most certainly been hinted at throughout the series, from book mentions to odd observations, including the oldies radio broadcast to the fact that the island has drawn old sailing ships, balloons, and now passenger jets. Healing seems to take place faster than normal, and of course there's Walt, who sure seemed to grow extra fast.

Tonight we saw "A Brief History of Time" and learned of a young woman with the womb of an elderly lady. The company? MITTELOS, an anagram for "LOST TIME." We know Juliet was supposed to be with the project for six months, and she laments it'd been three years... but perhaps six months haven't actually yet elapsed, in "real time"?

Then again, there was the Red Sox game, which seemed to synchronize things, as did the mysterious real world scene that ended Season Two. Who knows? That's why we watch.

ETA: Speaking of timelines... Juliet says she's been on the island three years, two months, and 28 days. If the current date is late 2004, perhaps early December... then she arrived on the Island in early September 2001, very close to another very significant world event. (It also means that the Indian Ocean tsunami hasn't happened yet.)

          Re: "Lost" Season 3

I fell in love with Lost the first season because it was a unique program about a group a diverse characters and their struggle to survive on a strange uninhabited island, except for the crazy French woman. I came to love these characters and learning about their life before the plane crash.

The second season we find that the Losties don't have to struggle much to survive and the island reallly isn't unihabited.
With the discovery of the hatch they get to live it up in comfort with an unlimited supply of food that replenishes itself with a delivery from the sky when the supply starts running low, they have access to a shower, washer & dryer, and records. The Losties find that they really aren't alone with the discovery of Desmond in the hatch, the appearence of the Talies and the Others. So much for stories about the struggle to survive and the characters we grew to love in the first season. With the ever increasing population on the island we see less and less of our beloved characters from the first season.

The comes season three. For some reason someone or a group of someones, whether it be the writers, producers, or ABC forget about the other characters and turned Lost into the Jack, Sawyer, and Kate have a love triangle and sex in a cage show. Whoever did this and destroyed Lost has a very warped sence of reality. That is not the reason I fell in love with Lost the first season and if I wanted to watch that crap I would watch a porno movie. Then they thow in all of these numerous other new characters who are part of the Others and focus of them.
Where is Locke? Where is Sayid? Where are Sun & Jin? Where are Charlie & Claire? Where are Michael & Walt? Where is Hurley? Where is Vincent? I want to watch stories about all of these characters and only these characters!!!!!

Lost has damaged itself beyond repair. The original concept of the show should not have been altered. The only possible way that the damage to Lost could possible be fixed is if they did an "ala Dallas" and one of the characters woke up from a bad night mare and realised that the Hatch, Desmond, the Talies, and the Others were just a bad dream and that the Losties were still struggling to survive on a strange uninhabited island except for the crazy French woman.

I watched the episode the second time and during the first flashback Juliet mentions Miami.

Didn't Desmond mention he has been on island at least three years as well?

Oh god, I loved this episode.

I want to watch it over again. And again. Free will or fate. Rewriting history. Deja vu. "The universe unfortunately has a way of course-correcting."

And man, it was good to see some of our old friends again, albeit briefly. Charlie, Hurley, Locke, Sayid, Claire (with bangs!), Sun...

And man, oh man, did I love all the location shoots -- I lost count! Nuuanu Ave., Fort Street, 1132 Bishop, Aliiolani Hale, O'Toole's, McClain's Auctions... And Bishop Museum! I totally didn't see that coming. And all that digital matte work. Pioneer Plaza was erased! Macy's in downtown was erased! And Hawaii Hall at Bishop Museum is suddenly oceanfront!

Bravo Michael Titterton! Nice dodge on that cricket bat...

Best episode this season. Top ten for the whole series.

Interesting story telling format for tonight's episode. Instead of the usual flashback sequence we get a reset a time loop sequence.

Traditional rambly analysis by Jen and me is now up here.

The creepy old lady (Fionnula Flanagan) was great. I'm beginning to wonder if the "LOST" creators are going to be dancing around their assertion that there is no time travel in the show... because her scene in the antique shop had me thinking for one crazy minute that she was actually Penny from some other time. Or timeline.

                        Awesome episode!!!!

The best part was that there was no Jack/Kate/Sawyer!!!!!!

Would have liked to have seen more of Locke, Sayid, Sun, Jin, and Vincent. I miss Vincent, where has he been?????

Indeed. I've missed the old gang. I was immensely relieved when we saw a bunch of them in the first five minutes... but then the rest of the episode went mostly to Desmond. Still, excluding Jack, Kate and Sawyer (after they've dominated nearly all the episodes preceding this one) was a good choice. Gives Sawyer and Kate some quality time on a canoe, and Jack some time to settle in Othersville.

Speaking of people we didn't see... Nikki and Paolo's absence was pretty glaring, considering they were part of the expedition. Not that anyone missed them!

I'm fairly certain Vincent will be back. Whether or not he'll get that flashback, though, that's the real question.

By the way, a Charlie fan lamented Desmond's declaration at the end of last night's episode. But personally, I think Desmond's statement that Charlie is destined to die is the best thing that could have ever happened to his character... because I think it means that keeping him alive will become a key part in our survivors' attempts to change their fates.

I suspect that last night episode took place around the same time that Jack was enticed to operate on Ben.

As for Charlie, just because he is destined to die, doesn't mean he is the next person to die. For all we know he outlives the other Oceanic 815 survivers, gets rescued, brought back to civiliation and gets mobbed to death by Drive Shaft fans.

She's a regular on the Showtime series Brotherhood, which I just finished on DVD a couple of weeks ago. She's great as the manipulative matriarch of an Irish Catholic familly torn between two brothers: A "good" politician and a "bad" criminal. The latter is played by Jason Isaacs, who's so good at playing villains like Lucius Malfoy and Tavington in "The Patriot". Great show, well worth a Netflix rental.

Back on topic. I echo the rest of you in that it's great to be back on the beach. Much as I love this show, I was really surprised at how much pain I felt for Desmond. Anybody who's ever suffered a broken heart like that can relate, I suppose.
