Default Milestones

Here is a thread where you can post your personal milestones, yes they can be small.

I reached 20 today. I know it isn't a lot but it's certainly been an adventure. Looking forward to another 20.

Thumbs up Re: Milestones

I got my very first FTF yesterday! And on "Double Dog Dare Ya" cache to boot. It's a great hike especially in the morning. Thanks Teamgeoblast for putting it up there.

I found my very first geocache today! It was the CD Cache, GCP4NF. I arrived home with just enough time to grab my GPS and tell my family I was going geocaching. My son wanted to come along, and it was a good thing. We didn't have much daylight left so it was a rush (in more ways than one). The GPS lead us there and was spot on. We don't use what was mentioned in the clue so we weren't too sure what to look for, but my son spotted it. We were in such a hurry to get out that we forgot to bring something too leave, so we took nothing, but did sign the log. This was so much fun. I can hardly wait to go out and hunt for more caches. I think the real treasure was spending time with my son, but finding the cache was exciting. We're both hooked and my daughter's bummed because she didn't come. Next time.

Default Once Again - Master of Oahu Mysteries (MOM)

Finally, I have momentarily regained the MOM title, having found all the caches on Oahu with the "?" designator! I'll savor this until it goes away...

And you've found some of my hard ones. You seem to be a man of both brains and brawn. And a sharp tongue too.

Congratulations! I still haven't found any micro cashes yet so I can't even begin to imagine trying to attain a MOM status.

The first micro we ever found was "Bust 'Em Danno," it's not too hard. Crider's "Are the Gods Angry...." is another good one that won't have you in a random spot picking through trash. Both of those are at shopping places where you probably need something anyway, even if you don't get the cache.

Til you decide you like the micros, consider avoiding any placed by an av8tor...
Remember, when searching fruitlessly, to repeat to yourself, "This is supposed to be a fun activity..." Then after you find it and sign the log, say what sillygirl always does, "I hate micros." But she loves to plant them, so go figure.

Thanks for the advice. I intended on taking your advice and seeking (a la Harry Potter snitch hunting) for "Are the Gods Angry ....", but found myself in the Sand Island Area.

Excelsior! I found my first micro! It was Frisbee Golf after finding Herman the German (we won't mention blowing Industrial Beach). All of these were in 5-year-old friendly terrain so my son had a blast.

I think I'll stick with the 1/1 caches for a while till I hone my skills sufficiently for more difficult quarry. Plus they're loads of fun for the kids.

I'm looking forward to my next mile stone . . . . increasing my find count into double digits !

Kanakajeep and son break into double digits with find #10. We had sometime before my son's doctor appointment so we tried for Keiki Cache #1, and he made the grab. I passed over the cache twice due to the great camo job, but my son just zeroed in on it. It's his birthday today and so this cache get's an official 5-year-old's seal of approval!

Yesterday saw several milestones for me. First, my family and I found the most caches we've ever found in a single day - three and a half. We might have found four (the last one was the first part of a multi) but we ran out of time. Second, broke into the twenties! What a great day!

Hi all ! That is great, everyone attaining & reaching their personal goal, achievements, & success ! I've started caching 8/13/05 & never new how far this fun activity would take me to. Well I ended up putting everything else on the side & just started to just go for it ! When I started to hit the 50's, 60's, 70's finds I made a goal to hit 100 by the end of the year ! Well I made the big 100 on 12/12/05 doing DW's Wuthering Heights ! My other success was only 1 FTF & finding 8 caches in 1 day. I like to find various hides! Micros, tupperwares, ammo, even a bucket at this one cache. So Kanakajeep, get out there ! Finding more assorted hides
will sure make other future hunts & searches more viable on what to look for !
P.S. Work on other micro finds before you start doing av8ors !

Today I finally got a FTF, Amelia's Iki. My dad worked for Pan Am during the days of the flying boats and was one of the first mechanics to work on the 747 when it first came into service. He instilled in me the love of aircraft and flying so this cache, besides being my first FTF, has special meaning to me. Thanks Off-Roader for the encouragement and the congratulations.

Congrats kanakajeep! I remember my very first FTF waay back when (Soccer Bottle). I always enjoy this "friendly competition" and it seems that these FTF's are getting harder to come by nowadays with this new crop of speedy cachers popping up!

Thanks Jools. Firsts are always memorable. I'm looking forward to my next first - hiding my first cache. I have several places in mind and am already preparing the containers and logs. I've seen some pretty good examples and hope mine will be up to snuff.
