    Re: HT's Photo Sharing Thread

Yesterday's sunset taken from a small hill at Kakaako Waterfront Park. Often the ships get in the way of seeing the sun settle into the sea... however this particular ship kind of fit in even though it gives the pic a sort of industrial look.
    I'm still here. Are you?

                  Re: HT's Photo Sharing Thread

I actually posted these pics in another bulletin board under a thread

"places you've been that no other goon has probably been to"

it kinda devolved into a vacation posting thread.

the Vatican - which I'm sure folks have been to but not too many get to go inside. It is open to the public on holy years. Which come every 50 years or so.

                  vanilla shot of the outside

the beam of light from the skylight coming straight down was surreal. back in the day it must've looked like the word of god coming down to us mere mortals.

some artsy thing I am unfamiliar with

                  I'll post more pics later.

hmmm, didn't realize there was a limit on pics.

kinda blurry because it was so dark, I had to totally decrease the contrast to even view these.

this is a huge two story structure... inside the building. Hard to get a scope of how big things are from these pics.

I did not know what a rip tide was so I looked it up! Holy Cow!
We have many of them on our beaches in Oregon. I never thought to find out.

                          Re: HT's Photo Sharing Thread

I took lunch up the road to Makaha Beach today. It's one of my favorite spots on earth! The first photo is taken from the street side of a lot on Makau St. that I'd give just about anything to buy and build on! I'd have to find a special attorney to practice that law of attraction! The 2nd photo is from the beach side of that lot. There was no place to park on Farrington Hwy. Surf's up! Gorgeous day. And now I must get back to work!

Spotted on Sunday, just around the corner of Kalakaua and Seaside Avenue in Waikiki, is this R2D2 USPS mail collection box located at curbside...

                              Further research indicates this...

R2-D2 to collect mail for post office
                              By Associated Press
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Thirty years ago, in theaters near and far, far away, a movie opened the imaginations of millions, combining the magics of mythology and special effects to launch the ``Star Wars'' phenomenon.

A star of those films — the brave little robot R2-D2 — is about to take a turn collecting mail as the Postal Service and Lucasfilm Ltd. commemorate that movie launch.

The post office is wrapping mail collection boxes in some 200 cities nationwide in a special covering to look like R2-D2.

It's part of a promotion for a new stamp to be announced March 28, Anita T. Bizzotto, the post office's chief marketing officer, said.

``It's a little teaser for the upcoming announcement and we decided to have a little fun with it,'' she said.

About 400 mailboxes will be covered to look like the stout droid. ``When you look at a mailbox, the resemblance to R2-D2 is too good to pass up,'' Bizzotto said.

While postal officials would like people to look for these mailboxes and maybe even drop in a letter, Bizzotto urged people not to tamper with them, noting that's a crime.
That means no chance you'll see one of these on eBay anytime soon.

It would be cool if the postman pulls up in the wagon blasting the theme song while he collects the mail for the day.
