Default More old Commercials anyone remember these?

I was looking thru an episode of LOTTERY! from Summer 1984 on KITV:

KITV local promo of past athletes who participated in the Olympics which was a promo for Summer 1984 Olympic Coverage
BJ Furniture
ABC Comedy Special: The Earthlings failed pilot with Mike Connors
20/20 Sundays at 5pm (odd time??)
Granny Goose Chips
First Hawaiian Telephone Banking
Marsh Furniture
Muppets Take Manhattan promo for Consolidated Royal Marina 2 Theaters
Skyranger KITV 4 Helicopter with Eurthymics "Here Comes the Rain Again" music
Benson on Saturday nights
Bachelor Party promo Consolidated Waikiki 1 Theaters
Good Morning America with David Hartman and Joan Lunden at 6am

It appears based on what I have seen that some network tv shows were still taped delayed in 1984. Instead of hearing the late Ernie Anderson the longtime ABC network voice, you hear a local announcer promoting the network shows.

Does anyone remember Kelly Hu doing a McDonalds commercial 20 years ago by chance, sure looks like her??

I just watched a Wendy's commercial celebrating 10 years on the Islands from 1987 with Danny Kalekini.

Here's another....silly Meadow Gold ad with people dressed as fudge sticks and ice cycle pops dancing around a freezer with a dark haired Michael W. Perry rapping with a boombox.

I'm glad I don't remember it.

JEWELCOR - that was the store located in Pearlridge #2 above Daiei, right? Where the Food Court and theaters are now.

Pioneer Federal - I banked there, after First Interstate (American Security), to get away from First Hawaiian Bank. No luck, FHB acquired both of them to reel me back in.

Jade did the Zippy's spot at least 25 years ago. Since then, and after a contractual amount of time, she could've done a McDonalds. I'm not aware of that but that doesn't mean it didn't happen!

Jewelcor=Yes per the description on the commercial you have the exact location. Sorry I forgot to put the "R" at the end.

Pioneer federal=Nice Christmas ad, but the tape runs out before the ad is finished, the kids in that ad have to be around my age by now.

I hated those old Loyal Garner Cutter Ford ads.

From around the same time in the early 1980s were the Russ Francis and Melveen Leed ad series done for American Savings & Loan. They parodied "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in one of them. Could not stand any of those.

Getting back to car ads.... Ron Jacobs was the pitchman for Honolulu Ford at Ala Moana Blvd. in the early 80s...

And Pat Morita did a stint as pitchman for Rainbow Chevrolet around the time of the "Karate Kid" movie.

Anyone remember the ad series the U.H. basketball team and coach did for Pflueger Lincoln Mercury in the 1970s. I think the BB coach at that time was Bruce O'Neil; some of the players got paid or something for the ads; NCAA found out and I think the UH BB program was put under probation or something... was long ago, so if I am wrong on the details, somone please correct them.

I have almost all of those ads you mention Mel, Ron Jacobs acted really silly in them.

I thought Melveen Leed was real cute back then.

What was the name of the sponsor for the commercial with the kid choir singing. There was a camera shot of a kid overexaggerating his lipsynching, "This is our island home?"

A great spot is one for which you remember the sponsor and not necessarily the "messenger." I remember the choir and the lip-syncher, but the sponsor...? Was it First Hawaiian Bank?

I remember a young Carole Kai singing in a commercial in a 1970's evening dress while her legs peeked through the slits at the side of the dress as she moves. I knew I would be straight when I grow up after seeing that. That was our porn before VCRs.
Did anybody purchase in Pondarosa Pines after the seeing the commercial? The area looked like the Unibomber would live there.

Magoo's Pizza with its No Hu Hu commercial of a pizza delivery guy falling into a pool because he lost his balance looking or spock the cleavage of a bikini clad busty blonde.
A favorite for guys during their Beavis & Butthead days.

That was a HONOLULU FORD commercial. Not Pflueger. Not Cutter. Over the years, I've seen reporters mistakenly blaming Cutter Ford for that fiasco involving the UH basketball players. But it was definitely a Honolulu Ford commercial.

<sigh!>

Regardless, that was a very successful ad campaign for AS&L which is why they continued to be produced. I won't say who produced 'em, tho'...my secret!

I should go and look thru some of the ads I have of Rap Replinger and Morgan White doing ads, seperately of course!

Those ads with Russ and Melveen ran for many years.

How about Pizza Hut ads with Noelani Cipriano! Anyone remember those!
