Why would I need a fake State of Hawaii Driver's license when I already have a real State of Hawaii Driver's license? Especially one where the fake one is going to expire before the real one!

Then again mines doesn't say McLovin on it.

Cute. I was tickled the first time I saw the trailer, and blogged the unexpected Hawaii shout-out.



Interestingly, some reviews that mention the scene seem to think that the rainbow design is part of the joke, cheesy and fake, as if no state would have licenses that look like that (let alone issue one to McLovin). Note the street address. Someone in the prop department checked out a Hawaiian dictionary, methinks.

If they did do their homework, then the fictional Momona Street is in Hilo. Can anyone in Hilo confirm Momona Street? And if so, are the McLovins good neighbors?

But the Zip code (as well as the city) is wrong. Hilo is 96720 not 96820.

There's a Momona Place in Waianae Valley. I think that's as close as it gets on Oahu.

When I first saw the Superbad ad and noticed the name Momona St on the ID, I thought the joke was that Momona was a Hawaiian word that sounded like moaning, as in sounds one might make during sex. So actually the joke is that Momona is the Hawaiian word for fat? I had that wrong

It'd probably be in their best interests to not replicate Hawaii's current driver license design very well. No cop, agency or business here would mistake it for the real thing, but I can imagine these things being whipped out to fool folks on the mainland.
