Well, some of us knows that already, but KHNL has a story on how a man showed a 14 year old boy (whom he met on myspace) some porn.

The man is 30 years old, and he snuck into the boy's house at night.

That's why parents should monitor their child's internet activities, or atleast talk to the child.

Or maybe teens like him shouldn't be going online. Hey, computer places should install parental controls on all new computers.
How'd I get so white and nerdy?

It doesn't sound like he "snuck into the house". The kid invited him in, albeit without his parents' knowledge. Of course, as a parent I'd be just as pissed off, because it's my house dammit!, but this isn't a case of breaking and entering. Hmm. Is it trespassing if you're let into the house by a minor?

Happy Valentines Day Glen! No, it wasn't trespassing. He was invited. All the sicko got charged with was giving "Ponographic Materials" to a minor. He should have been charged with more. I would have charged him FULL ON - with WHACKS WHACKS and a bit more!!!

You can tell a lot of us here are old because 14-year old boys aren't as saintly as they used to be. Take a good look at any high school or middle school where 14-year old boys attend. These guys are definately in the know, just look at their 14-year old female counterparts.

14-year old boys are wearing cologne and 14-year old girls are wearing...well practically nothing anymore! They're watching more provocative TV programming than when I was 14 back in 1974! Their video games are even more distasteful.

I don't support porn in any way for viewing by minors but let's face it, they see so much of it in the way they dress, watch TV, play video games, read magazines (aimed at them even), music, and in ways in which their peers conduct themselves.

When the CD Kidz Bop starts selling songs with kids singing "Oops I did it again", who is the real sexual predator? Some guy showing some "well-seasoned" 14-year old boy porno or MTV selling sex in the form of provocative music videos? One leads to the other and in this case, I bet that 14-year old probably saw more intense porn from his friends than this guy.
Life is what you make of it...so please read the instructions carefully.

I'm not all that upset about the porn all by itself. If the kid is on MySpace, then he's on the internet and he can see all the porn he wants already. It's the letting some guy into his house after midnight part that gets me. If the kid wanted to meet his creepy grownup friend to get porn from him, he could have done that easily in the daytime at a shopping mall and no one would have noticed. Why does this guy want to come to a young boy's bedroom in the middle of the night instead? What if it was a 14-year-old girl with a 30-year-old boyfriend, who she invited into her house? Ho boy. You wouldn't be hearing only about the porn.

The internet is a dangerous place for children and teens, I don't allow my children on the internet anywhere but at home and only with the doors open to our office ( extra bedroom) My wife and I pay very close attention to what they do online as well as what they know how to do so we can try to control what they're exposed to. We can't control everything but we can let them know that we know what they're doing. also no cell phones until they can pay for them.

                    Re: Some sickos on myspace

Back on topic, this is, of course not primarily a MySpace problem, if even an Internet problem. Parents should be vigilant and aware of any contacts their kids are making via any means, whether it's friends they meet at the park or online buddies on social networking sites.

Of course, MySpace is a popular target right now, simply because it truly does dominate the teen demographic space online. (Our church recently held an "informative seminar" basically preaching how evil MySpace is.) But anywhere young people congregate, people who prey on young people will follow. Not too long ago, AOL chat rooms where were the most online evil lurked.

It does pay to know what appeals to kids and to be wary, but just know that even if it's MySpace today, it'll be something else tomorrow. Heck, no doubt the cool kids and other adolescent trend makers have already crowned the next big thing -- and you won't hear about it until everyone's already been there and done that.

I had a MySpace account for a short while. It was alright, but decided it just wasn't for me. Also my "Friends" list was all females and I figured I Really didn't want to have to explain that to my wife sometime. You know what I mean.

I know what you mean. For 30 and over crowd, this stuff is just too impersonal. It’s no wonder kids are falling for sexual predators. The suspect has an entire web page to convince them he/she is their “dream date.”

Whatever happen to online chatting? To me, you have to get to know the person through conversation. Forget the pretty picture propaganda. In the beginning, the internet was expanding the wala‘au concept. Now it seems to be going in the opposite direction.

We can’t be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans.
