          Re: Anyone using Mac OSX?

Wow, this thread has been bumped up. Things certainly have improved for Mac OSX users since I started this thread. Today I use either Mac OS X 10.3.9 or Mac OSX 10.4.11 depending on which Mac I am running. My browser of choice these days is Firefox, followed by Safari and Camino. I spend about 90% of my browser time with Firefox on the Mac.

On the work PC we're at Windows XP SP3.... and stuck with Internet Explorer.

I'll move on to Mac OSX v.5 when I eventually get a new Mac.
          I'm still here. Are you?

            Re: Anyone using Mac OSX?

FYI, it's OS X (with a space between the X).

We're running Leopard (version 5) in our office on brand spanking new Macs, and so far, so good.

            Just a couple of problems.

One appears to be an SMB networking issue, as we still can't figure out (or have bothered anymore) how to get our Leopard OS'd Macs to see Wintel XP users (and vice versa) on our LAN. This wasn't a problem with OS X v.4.

If you know the solution to this one, drop a line!

Also, there's apparently a conflict with the shortcut key Command+H in Adobe InDesign CS3 and Apple OS X V.5's native keystroke commands. If you attempt to hide InDesign by pressing that command, it doesn't work. If you hide InDesign manually by going through the application's menu bar, it hides, then you can't retrieve the application, and are forced to quit.

There's a way "around it", but it's tedious. This is a known CS3/Leopard glitch, as I've researched on InDesign and Apple tech forums, that hasn't been solved yet (as far as I know!).

I also notice Leopard starts up quickly, but takes longer to shut down. Kinda' weird, and a bit frustrating when I wanna' blitz out the door after work.

Another gig of RAM is certainly on the shopping list. Still, even with the gig of RAM currently installed, I can run ALL CS3 apps simultaneously without freezing. Only InDesign is the memory hog and tends to "act up", summoning that "spinning wheel of death".

Also have yet to configure Time Machine (auto back-up). As it stands, Silverkeeper works.

              Re: Anyone using Mac OSX?

I know said this some where else but for the time being my work system is running OS X (10.5.5) and Safari 3.1.2. Also planning on installing Firefox one of these days to deal with a work related web application that Safari has a minor problem with it.

                  Re: Anyone using Mac OSX?

Mac OS X 10.4.11 with continually-updated Firefox and Safari on the final model of the iBook G4.

Prefer Firefox, but still use Safari about 25% of the time. Especially enjoy the ability to see PowerPoint files on Firefox - although no sound, I don't miss it.

Will stick with Tiger (hey, I wen McKinley !!!) & not move to Leopard.
