I'm new to this forum but I couldn't find any answers on the internet. I sold a van 8 days ago. We told them everything we knew about the van and we told them its in good condition. Not excellent but good enough to go around everyday. Plus, we drove it everyday and it never felt like it would break down on us. I have a infant and 3 year old, I would never let them be in a car thats unsafe. We just wanted to sell it because it didn't have A/C. It also ate up a lot of gas and were really poor so we NEEDED a smaller car and the A/C!
We didn't harrass them to buy the van. They actually called us all day and finally met up with us late in the evening. We were tired but they really wanted to see the van. They test drove it and wanted it. We told them to wait and discuss it because we were in no rush. Plus it was the only car we had. They said no, they wanted it that night. So we sold it to them. Again, we told them everything we knew about the van. We sold it in good faith.
Okay, so tonight (10/25) we get a call from them saying that they drove it only 1 day and it broke down on them. They now want to return the van to us and said that we had fraud them . . .like we ripped them off. I don't get it. Its 8 days later. Nothing was wrong with the van when we were driving it. By the way its a 1993 Nissan Quest with 90K miles and we asked for $1500 but they negotiated to $1,300. Way cheap, we figured that it wasn't worth much without A/C. I also told the wife that its not worth it to buy the van if you want A/C because its too expensive to fix unless you knew someone. She said they knew someone.
Anyway, They told us that they are going to tow the van to our home and force us to take the van back. I don't have money. $1,300 wasn't a lot, it actually all went to my past due bills and partial rent. It really hurt me the way they talked to us too. They made it like we forced them to buy the van and that its all our fault. My husband told them there was nothing we can do and the wife replied by saying " I guess we got ripped off then" and hung up. That really bothers me because how can they think that? We didn't force them to buy the van, we told them everything we knew about the van, and we told them to think about it before buying it.
So what can they do to us? Or what is the right thing to do? I don't have money, I'm scraping for coins here. Thats how poor I am. I told my husband to tell them that they could get a lawyer to draw legal papers if we did do something wrong and maybe figure out a payment plan. But still its been 8 days, why didn't they call us earlier? I know its not our fault but I still feel bad that these people actually think we scammed them. Should I prepare for something? People now days are so scary I don't want them stopping by our home to harrass us or anything. What should I do?
