  • Bob Barker retiring after 50 years on TV

    Link

LOS ANGELES - Bob Barker is heading toward his last showcase, his final "Come on down." The silver-haired daytime-TV icon is retiring in June, he told The Associated Press Tuesday.

"I will be 83 years old on December 12," he said, "and I've decided to retire while I'm still young."

He'll hang up his microphone after 35 years as the host of "The Price Is Right" and 50 years overall in television.

Though he has been considering retirement for "at least 10 years," Barker said he has so much fun doing the show that he hasn't been able to leave.
Even though the show hasn't really been the same since Rod Roddy passed away, I wonder if they'll continue having more The Price is Right. I can't imagine the show without Bob Barker...when I was a baby, I learned how to clap because of the show.

    Finally...

PLEASE HONOR BOB BARKER BY HAVING YOUR PETS SPAYED OR NEUTERED.

I love him for saying that at the end of each show. For real.

Hmmm...I'll admit I didn't know The Price is Right was still on the air or that Bob Barker was still alive! I learn something new every day!

I grew up with the price is right!

I'll miss Bob... however, I think the show can survive with out the guy.

And a link to the very first episode that aired:

Craig Ferguson's going to have to find someone else to pick on in his monologues now.

Here's something else -- Bob Barker has a black belt in Karate, and his teacher was Chuck Norris

It's a bit sad even though I don't like game shows. My mom is probably going to make a beeline to LA and try to catch one of his last shows as a studio audience member.

So I wonder what will happen with that long thin mic he used for eons!

If he doesn't keep it, maybe it'll be off to the Smithsonian to rest alongside other items from American History?
