  • Local artists are due performance royalties

Please understand this is not an attempt at self-aggrandizement, even though this post contains a link to my column.

I'm hoping HT members, guests and lurkers will read the column and contact folks they know in the recording industry so that they can get money the are owed, before it is forfeited.

SoundExchange has a list of thousands of artists in every imaginable genre of music, who may lose royalties they have EARNED with Internet streaming and satellite radio usage of their music over a chunk of time.

    http://starbulletin.com/2006/12/03/business/engle.html

Artists/management should go here and read the content first:

    http://plays.soundexchange.com/jsp/a...paid_intro.jsp

Check the unpaid artist list by doing the click-through (or, there's a URL below) ...

... And then of course, make contact with SoundExchange to make sure they get their checks!

Please send this around to the artists/managers/distributors you know so that our hard-working, legacy-making artists or their survivors can get the royalties they worked so hard and sacrificed so much to earn.

THE DEADLINE IS DEC. 15, 2006 -- AND REMEMBER, SOUNDEXCHANGE IS IN THE EASTERN TIME ZONE -- so get your registration in before noon that day, just in case!

    God bless,

    -- Erika Engle

Note, the list at the URL below contains THOUSANDS of names. I scrolled through and compiled a list of local artists' names to the best of my ability while on deadline. It is possible that by the time you read this, our talented Admin. will have created a way for you to click to my lengthy, local list that may save you some time. Having said that, I CANNOT GUARANTEE that my list includes all local artists who stand to lose royalty payments.

I know a lot less than what there is to be known.

Good job Erika...I contacted someone on this list who had no idea this existed.
