  • Free Old Macs

The pack rat thread has motivated me to get rid of 3 of my Macintosh computers. Anyone interested in vintage computers that still work can have one or all of the following Macs for free:

Macintosh Plus: Built-in screen, 4 MB of RAM, 800k internal floppy drive, 45 MB Ehman external hard drive, external 800K floppy drive. The hard drive will contain some ancient software on it including many old games and System 6.08. I may even have many of the original floppies available too. Includes keyboard, mouse and AC cords. Also can throw in a zip drive.

This Mac is in nice condition, not very yellow.
More info and photos here: http://www.headgap.com/~macstar/macplus.html

Macintosh SE: Same like Mac Plus with built in screen, 4MB of RAM except that this has a 145MB internal hard drive running System 7.01. I used to do some dial up internet with this, which means most of that old software is still installed. I will have to go in there to clear out the passwords and dialup info for my ISP account. Pre-loaded with game software, old word processing, publishing and art stuff. I think I can throw in another zip drive and 800k external floppy drive with this one too. Comes with keyboard, mouse and vinyl carry bag. AC wire/plug.

More info and picture here: http://www.headgap.com/~macstar/macse.html

PowerComputing PowerCenter 150 Mac Clone: For a long time this has been my baby. I bought brand new for $2300+. Comes with 2GB internal hard drive, 96 MB of RAM, System software preinstalled, some other software, external zip drive. Ethernet built in and can work with cable or DSL network. Will also include external zip drive. (The internal one is broken, click of death)...Internal floppy not installed correctly, but I assume it works. Original floppy drive died years ago; bad disc damaged head. I will throw in original PowerComputing System disc, BeOS CD, and manuals that came with the computer if I can find em. This could be the very last PowerComputing clone still working in Hawaii.

NEC Silentwriter Laser Printer: This is an Appletalk printer that I bought brand new for $1700 way back in 1991. I haven't turned it on in about 2 years, but the last time I did it worked. This works with all of the Macs mentioned above. A caveat: I am not sure if they still make cartridges for this and if you find one they cost about $250 each! Ouch!

Come get one or get them all. PM or email me for pick up details and phone number: macpro3000@yahoo.com

I prefer to give these to someone already on Oahu so I don't have to deal with packing and shipping costs.

    Re: Free Old Macs

I know there are some people in the PNW on here too, so if anyone wants a free Mac in the Portland area, I have one to give away as well. PowerMac 7300/200 with a 17" Apple Trinitron display, nice big SCSI scanner, 2GB HD, 256MB RAM. I used it for quite a while to do art/photo scanning and basic editing.

Dang!!. That is the best idea yet next to this one!!. I found this pic in another internet forum .

Another way (101 ways) to use your (useless) monitor .

          But...

This monitor can't do a whole lot like the one you posted up, other than to keep a rodent from escaping .
