I must confess, my first thought upon hearing the news was of a cheesy techno dance song I heard all the time when I was in high school (it may have been in Radio Free Hawaii rotation), particularly when skulking around the dark corners of the Garage. It was by a band called "L.A. Style," and the title of the song was, "James Brown is Dead."

Saw the GFOS on New Year's at the Hilton a few years ago. Didn't expect much, but he blew the roof off the place.

Saw him a few years ago. Had to go home at 2:30 am as it was a Tuesday night and I had to work next day. He was still going strong after coming on stage at 11:30 pm. Unreal.
