    I was flipping through the news and this story broke just a few minutes ago.

    Reality TV star and former model Anna Nicole Smith was pronounced dead Thursday after being taken to a Florida hospital after being found unconscious in her hotel room, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the case told CNN.

    Smith, 39, collapsed at a south Florida hotel and was taken to a local hospital, according to news reports.

    TMZ.com had reported that Smith collapsed at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood just after 2 p.m. ET.

    According to reports, Smith was found unresponsive in her hotel room.
    Whether or not you liked her, her baby now has to grow up without a mother. No doubt she's led a tragic life, and now this.

    A press conference will begin shortly to address the situation.

      Unbelievable. I'm at a loss for words. Heartfelt condolences go out to her family.

        Dang! I can't believe it! Her son died couple months/year ago too? So young....

Her passing was a little less than 5 months after her son had died. She was 39 years old."

          talk about tragic... her son dies shortly after she gives birth to her daughter due to an overdose of anti-depressants and now she's gone. Just like that. Sad Sad Sad...

            Her son Daniel died last September, three days after giving birth to her daughter. It was ruled as an accidental overdose and caused a heart condition that ultimately killed him.

            I know that she was involved in a bunch of legal battles -- one against TrimSpa (she used to be their spokesperson) and one against her former boyfriend who claims that he's the baby's father. It'll be interesting to see how this paternity suit will play out now that she's died.

            Now the question is whether or not she took her own life?

              I think the best thing for that little girl is to be adopted by some couple and raised in the midwest, and spare her from all of this until she is of college-age.

                She seemed so troubled. Very sad, a little bit along the lines of Marilyn Monroe, I think.

                  I am not a fan of hers....

                  but I thought it was strange how her son suddenly died, it seemed fishy to me.

                  Now it seems even more fishy-er that she has died suddenly. I think the authorities need to look at her lawyer boyfriend who always seemed a bit slimey to me. IMO.

                    Her son died by accidental overdose. I remember reading that he was suffering from depression -- so of course mixing methadone and anti-depressants would do a number, I'd imagine. I'm not convinced foul play's involved.

                    I never got that impression about her husband. They got married in the Bahamas shortly after she gave birth.

                      It's very sad. She seemed so overburdened and lost all the time.
                      I am sure the pressure and media wore her down then her son dying!
                      How much can one woman take?
                      I wonder what age Marylin was when she passed?

                        It was only a "commitment" ceremony, not a legal marriage. And I bet if they do an autopsy they'll find heart failure was the cause of death, with drugs as the precipitating factor. I feel badly for her daughter. Now maybe the courts will order a DNA test for her to determine if the photographer is really her father. And if he is, at least she will have her birth father.

                          Psychotropic drugs have numerous potentally lethal side effects and there doesn't even have to be an overdose involved to have them occur.

                          If there is an overdose it may be unintentional---not keeping track of the last time you took a dose or thinking that gee, one pill almost did the trick, howzabout this time I take two?

                          Or well, that didn't work, let me try this. And maybe a glass or two of wine would help me relax, since all the stuff I just took isn't doing the job.

                          Frankly, Anna Nicole looked a bit shlogged in recent interviews. I can understand her desire to numb the pain of her son's death and I think we can be pretty certain that she was medicated in an attempt to do so but perhaps this was a factor in her own death?
