Re: Pictures of Greenburg, KS (town ravaged by tornado)
Another reason to bring the National Guard home: the city manager of Greenburg and the governor of Kansas are saying (and they may have told Pres. Bush this when he toured the area this morning) is that their rescue and cleanup efforts are being hampered by the lack of National Guard resources, who have been deployed to Iraq.
With hurricane season set to begin in a couple of weeks, and with all kinds of national disasters now occurring around the country (the flooding in Missouri, tornados in Texas, etc), the need for our Guardsmen to be in this country, doing the jobs they signed up for, is becoming even more evident.

It's not so much not having enough National Guard troops available to help in domestic disasters like this one in Greensburg and in New Orleans as much as it is a problem of having all the heavy equipment needed to help clear debris, etc. being comandeered for use in Iraq that has the governors of many states so concerned right now. The State of Hawai'i is running into a similar problem with the Medivac helicopters having to be sent to Iraq.
