What is love? Does it exist? Can it be defined? Is it rational? Have you ever been in love? Is everyone capable of love?

      Re: What is love?

Love is patience. It can be truly said that there are different types of love, and the romantic one can be irrational, yet when a person hasn't "lost" themselves in another person's identity then their love for another will remain rational.

As we mature we realize that being in love is and isn't, and hopefully we learn that we can be in love and not "co dependent." There are actually people that die shortly after their lifetime love does. I suspect this happens because they were too dependent on their love for and in that person, and ceased to exist when they lost their love.

Patience is the highest and truest form of love. We owe this to our kids and we destroy a tiny bit of their souls when we are impatient with them.

I would think that truly evil people cannot truly love, but sure, they could "love" another evil person and have something like..."honor among thieves" while their love isn't true love.

Sure, I've been in love twice and thankfully I didn't lose myself completely either time and I'm a whole person within my relationship/marriage, now. I'll choose patience/true love over the candy and roses type any day. it lasts...
Stop being lost in thought where our problems thrive.~

In agreement with all but the last one, to which I would say "yes, at first, though that capability can be lost or destroyed. But also regained."

Love is selflessness, and deeply caring.
Love also is strength, because it is MUCH easier to be angry and hate than love.

I believe everyone is capable of love from the time they are born, unfortunately many are tainted and hurt so badly the love is erased.

4 Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not want what belongs to others. It does not brag. It is not proud. 5 It is not rude. It does not look out for its own interests. It does not easily become angry. It does not keep track of other people's wrongs.

6 Love is not happy with evil. But it is full of joy when the truth is spoken. 7 It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It never gives up.
