Shot some photos at last night's (Sept. 9) Remembrance Walk put on by the city.
      I'm still here. Are you?

        Excellent pics, Mel, thanks.

Six years ago right now I was working late at my desk. I accmplished a lot and allowed myself the luxury of sleeping-in, and the call came, hubby from the office to tell me to turn on the tv, and why. No! I couldn't believe it, but like us all I suppose, I was spellbound to a tv for hours in between phone calls and a bit of posting to some loved-ones online.

I best crash, not like I'll cause a repeat or anything but I prefer waking up naturally and not to bad news. Sorry today's date is forever marred by very bad news and feelings.

We were in Manhattan, midtown. The most surreal day I have ever had, EVER. What a day. I have never experienced such a tangible feeling of fear, and togetherness.

Rest in peace, those that perished this day, 6 years ago. RIP, Jay.

Re: Six Years After September 11th

September 11 is my daughter's birthday. It was such before the horrific incidents of that date in 2001, and will always be (to me) her birthday first, and a day to recall those tragedies second.

Have elected officials done more to protect this country from another day like that happening? Where is Osama?

                I will always remember.

                Question too.

Re: Six Years After September 11th

While remembering and honoring the innocent victims of the WTC disaster, please also remember the hundreds of thousands of first responders, construction and other tradespeople and volunteers who rushed to the scene without thinking about their own safety. These brave men and women are now likely to come down with---and die---from lung diseases and other rare illnesses caused by the dust they inhaled from the debris and rubble.

Many of those workers don't have health insurance, which compounds the pain and grief of those living to die painful deaths. These brave people's healthcare issues need to be taken care of immediately; it's the least this country can do for them and their families.

Thousands of construction workers, janitors, communications specialists, food-cart vendors and others who worked amid the noxious fumes for weeks or months-removing debris not only from Ground Zero but from the office buildings that still stood, reviving communications, feeding and providing aid to those who toiled-are sick with lung disease and all manner of rare cancers, according to various health officials. An expert panel created by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg concluded that as many as 410,000 people faced sufficient exposure to health hazards that they could become ill.

About 59 percent of those screened at a city center for patients suffering from World Trade Center-related illnesses are uninsured. The majority have incomes of less than $15,000 a year. Even at a screening center run by Mount Sinai Medical Center for "first responders"-an elite group among those who are turning up sick-an estimated 40 percent lack insurance.

New York politicians have persistently pursued more federal involvement and funding. The federal government has perennially rebuffed them.

Tatrat, I dunno where Osama is but are we really going to be safer the moment after he's dead and/or gone? The venom his followers spew surely isn't going to cease. That type of hate and thirst for others' deaths has a life of it's own and its name is Evil.

                      Ground Zero, June 2007

On the day I visited NYC, we took the PATH into the city from Jersey City/Newport. I'll never forget the feeling of the train coming out from the darkness and immediately finding myself with a same-level view of Ground Zero.

My sorority sister was a Cantor Fitzgerald employee who was late getting to work because her kid was sick. We almost lost her that day, and I remember we didn't hear anything from her for days after 9/11 because it was just pure chaos.

I think I'm going to call her today...just to say hi.

Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only only only

                        Houston, Texas

I walked into the doctor's office and watched the coverage of the first plane in the waiting room. I was called in, given the brief of the MRI procedure and laid comfortably down. Half way through the machine stopped, I waited about a minute before calling out, "Hello?" The technician apologized as she was in a moment of shock after learning of the second plane. I asked to leave, went home to absorb this all...and to call my parents to help process.

I still don't understand it all completely, but I do know that lives were lost and changed, and that's the truth.

Its the least that Saudi Arabia or better yet money collections by supposedly peaceful muslims could pay for. Why haven't Muslim organizations or countries offered to pay for things like this. Not that the US needs the money but simply as a genuine gesture of sadness and remorse? Why? Because most Muslims silently celebrate the murder of 3000 innocent civilians. Thats why.

No Miulang, "Our Government" that you love to hate so much did not cause this. Muslims, by their own words in the name of Islam, did this.

                          WHat do I remember?

I will always remember that on one of those airplanes that hit the WTC towers was a group of kindergarteners and their teacher who had all won a trip to Disneyland I believe. Mostly if not all black kids.

Well the nice Muslims from the religion of peace told everyone on board, "call home and say goodbye because you are all going to die".

Allah Akbar can rot in hell.

I SO SO agree with Kamuelakea on this issue.

All should read the Quran. It's a blueprint for justifiable homicide. When you see what is mandated in the Quran, you cannot help but be terrified.

It's not about Osama Bin Laden. It's about a belief system similar to the Borg on Star Trek.
