  • Young Brothers Going on Strike

Just reported on the news tonight that Young Brothers barge is going on strike starting at around 5:30 a.m. unless a last minute settlement is reached.

Neighbor islanders may want to start stocking up on toilet paper and rice.

Just hope for the neighbor island guys that the strike doesn't last long. Watched on the news and they interviewed different stores on both Kauai and Maui and both owners said that they can last for a little bit but when it comes to fresh items (fruits & veges) that doesn't keep so sitting on a barge won't be good for anyone!

      The Strike is Over

Settled today according to the evening newscasts.

Barges start sailing tomorrow. No need come Honolulu to buy toilet paper!

YAY...at least they came to a settlement...although some people really panicked and bought out Costco...toilet paper and rice!

It always amazes me how people go on complete freak-outs when something like that happens. I knew from the outset this strike wouldn't last longer than, say, five days. But for many the world was ending and toilet paper and rice was worth more than gold. Stranger than fiction.
