Through the Taste Buds, an Idyll Relived

My only regret about our vacations has been that we usually eat all the souvenirs before we get home. Instead of unpacking suitcases to reveal something tangible like, say, a hula girl night light to revive memories of the trip, we'd have nothing but fuzzy photos of the kalua pork hot plate lunch. And sauced pork does not always look its best in snapshots.
The Internet has changed things. Last week, already feeling wistful for a vacation that was not yet over, I went online and learned that I could buy virtually any kind of nostalgia-inspiring food I'd had on Maui - or on any other vacation.
