  • Are the chickens who lose the cockfight eaten?

This question comes from a question on another board, where I made the comment that the bulls from the ring are eaten, and that toro stew is a sought-after dish.

What happens to the loser in a cockfight?

I don't know the answer but I would think that the meat would be rather gamey.

Many years ago the fighting cocks were edible. The meat very delicious for soups and adobo. Unfortunately, the games took another turn. Poison was used. It was applied on blades and attached to the spurs of the fighting cocks.

      The poison was powerful.

they get thrown away in the garbage can. the chickens are too pumped up with steroids, injected with antibiotics etc. which makes them not safe for consumption. my daughter's godfather used to run an operation...
