  • Sugar Bowl "slogans for posters" thread

my dad is going to the sugar bowl! This is such a big deal for him. But, the Old Boar is old, so he needs help coming up with nifty slogans to wave on a sign. I figured that if we contribute on this thread, his won't be the only nifty one, and it will make our masses that much prettier (he is sitting with the rest of the HI entourage, no thanks to Mr F-word). His tix came by way of AZ and my daddy lives on the big isle.

#1--must find those washable tatoos to prove that a 1963 Pontiac Tempest and not a 1964 Buick Skylark made those marks on his face**

#2--must find a UH green muffler and wool cap thingie

    #3--need cool slogans!

    Something about
    Polysaturated
coconuts vs peaches (I'm thinking about hefty vs easily bruised)

allrighty people! Let the pithy smacktawk begin. Share, so that we look mean in green!

    **apologies to My Cousin Vinny

Umm....#1. What's he looking to do??? Got a visual of some sort, or maybe a better description of what's wanted?

For a sign...nice and neat put down Bulldogs (in their typeface if possible) cross out 'bull' and write above it 'Poi' then under it write 'soup'.

      They gonna be allowed to do the war dance thingy? I know it's not a haka anymore but I forget what it's called, but if they're allowed...signs that say 'The (insert dance/chant here) makes the puppies heel {whine, cower, etc.}

"Put de lime in de coconut and make the peaches whine"

That's all I can think of at the moment....lame but it's a start.

        How about:

        "Peaches have small nuts"

        or

"Georgia says: 'Don't spear me bro!' Go Warriors!"

        or

"Hawaii runs up the score. Bulldogs get the runs. Call Stanley Steamer!"

        or

        "Coconut smashes peach!"

        or

"Hey Georgia, pass the Sugar Bowl will ya?"

        How about those?

          *squeals and claps!*

Dad wants to take up a sign or two and wave it the air furiously, displaying for all the world to see his support for the mighty Warriors. He paid for every PPV telecast this season.

the grandkids are going to make the sign. The Old Man wants it to be gutsy and fierce. I appeal to my HTers for expertise!

he will be surrounded by Polys and haoles. He has declared that this is more important than the days we were born, so I do hope to help with seriously spiffy posters.

                  Shucks, it's FOX Sports....

                  2000s
The Sugar Bowl ushered in the new millennium in grand fashion by hosting college football's first national championship game of the new century. A record Louisiana Superdome crowd of 79,280 saw top-ranked Florida State Seminoles defeat No. 2 ranked Virginia Tech Hokies, 46-29.The Classic celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2004 with its second national championship game of the new millennium. The Fighting Tigers of LSU beat the Oklahoma Sooners, 21-14, for the BCS crown in front of an all-time Dome record crowd of 79,342.The teams also received a sweet payout of $18 million each. On Monday, August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina makes landfall in New Orleans and the Gulf South region causing devastation and forcing the Sugar Bowl to be played outside the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana for the first time in its 72-year history. West Virginia University and the University of Georgia faced off in Atlanta's Georgia Dome to play the historic game. The Mountaineers defeated the Bulldogs, 38-35, before a sellout crowd of 74,458.

The bowl ushered in 2006 with a move back to the New Orleans area and welcoming a new title sponsor and a new television network to broadcast the game. Allstate Insurance replaced Nokia as the Bowl's title sponsor in March and after 37 consecutive years of ABC Sports broadcasting the Sugar Bowl, FOX Sports became the Bowl's new broadcast partner.

Re: Sugar Bowl "slogans for posters" thread

How about a series of posters he can rotate through that say things like, "Win it for Coach Price!" or "Win it for [insert name of favorite Rainbow from long ago]!"? Or how about just a huge "KATOOSH" sign?

Or how about, "I lost the Fan of the Year award for being a 'system fan!' "

Or how about "This Colt is a Stud!"

"We prepared for Georgia by playing two division II schools!"
