  • Historical Fiction set in Hawai`i

I've read one book of this kind, Moloka`i (Alan Brennert), and it was fantastic. It was set during the time of leprosy's prominence in Hawai`i.

Has anyone else read any historical fiction set in Hawai`i that they enjoyed?

I just finished reading "House Of Many Gods", and enjoyed it.

Of course there is also Michener's classic - "Hawaii".

Isn't the term historical fiction an oxymoron of sorts? Kinda like jumbo shrimp?

James Michener's "Hawaii" was a pretty good read.

I haven't read it, but the work of Graham Salisbury (an HPA grad) is often set in Hawaii, especially Under the Blood Red Sun, which is set against the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941.

Not once you realize that "history" does not necessarily equal "truth."

Do O.A. Bushnell's novels count as historical fiction?

Moloka'i was an excellent book. I had a few quibble with it, but I thought it was excellent.
