Until yesterday, I wasn't quite aware of the number of famous people who call hawaii home. Did anyone else realize that kelsey grammar lived in kona until he had a heart attack? who else lives here?

Me!
Oh..., famous, eh?
Most famous people are those who don't deserve notoriety, but here are some that should be famous because they are good people, and talented;
Bobby Ingano - 30+ years in the produce dept. of Tamashiro Market, and the best Hawaiian steel guitarist in the state (he's Filipino, originally from Lanai). www.bobbyingano.com
There will be a small and only partial documentary on him being put together as we speak that will air on PBS in a few months. He gets in just enuf time (10 mins.) to speak and play a little. Bobby has overcome much hardship in his 55 years and has taken his abilities on the steel to heights that the best musicians in the business respect. Too bad most of the many well known locals he's recorded with have taken advantage of his immense generousity.
Gary Aiko - #1 son of the great Genoa Keawe and my favorite singer, uke player, bassist in all Hawaii. He was always there for his Mom. See him on stage at the Marriott in Waikiki 3rd floor, every Thursday evening backing Pomai Keawe-Lyman, Genoa's grand-daughter.
Ron Kanahele - the last of the famous Hawaiian steel guitar playing Rogers family. Another very generous man with his time and knowledge on the steel.Last edited by Ron Whitfield; June 6, 2008, 09:17 AM.

Re: Famous People who live in Hawaii
most locals tend to leave the "famous" folks alone so they can live here in peace. the fact that kelsey grammer happens to live, part time, in kona doesn't really matter much. he is a person, like anyone else who lives here and he deserves to be left in peace & quiet."Democracy is the only system that persists in asking the powers that be whether they are the powers that ought to be."

Re: Famous People who live in Hawaii
Pierce Bronsan, Richard Chamberlain, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Woody Harrelson, Jim Nabors are a few I can think of offhand. In the past Carol Burnett, Richard Boone, George Harrison are others. Some of these celebs have multiple homes so if they come here for a few weeks once in a while not sure if you can qualify that as living here.

Re: Famous People who live in Hawaii
Hard to be famous in Kona, where nobody really cares about your fame, but rather how friendly you are. I think celebs know this. There was some lady, from some TV show, in Lulu's with her boys, and nobody bothered her. I've seen other "famous" folks just being normal in Kona also.
Besides, a crowd of paparazzi in Kona would probably attract the wrong kind of attention, if you know what I mean.FutureNewsNetwork.com

Many other famous people live in the islands, but I agree with Anapuni808's comment earlier and won't tattle on our 'celebrity' residents..

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
