    Aloha!

Non-professional, aspiring ukulele musicians will be excited to hear about this...

The next Andy Cummings, Eddie Kamae, Troy Fernandez or Bradda IZ may be found at the 3rd annual Duke’s Ukes Contest this September. This year’s contest will feature some of the best amateur ukulele players in four age divisions vying for a Kamaka Ukulele, but before competing, applicants must audition on Saturday, August 23, 2008.

The Duke’s Ukes Contest auditions will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Hotel. Contestants will compete in four age categories, including: Ages 6 - 10; Ages 11 – 15; Ages 16 – 18; Ages 19 and older.

The contest will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 10 a.m. to noon at Duke’s Waikiki, during which celebrity judges will critique the performers based on a number of criteria including: instrumental ability; stage-presence/showmanship; key/clarity of notes; rhythm/timing; overall performance. Participation is free and registration is required.
