For all of you photographers, I started a new blog to challenge myself to take more creative pictures.

http://thephotohunt.blogspot.com/

I put up a new challenge each day and you are welcome to submit a photo for any or all of them at any time. If you send me a photo for a challenge, I'll make it link back to your gallery.

Have fun.

This is kinda old, but pretty fun photohunt.

Try to find all the names of the rockbands in this picture by Virgin, example: the big "20" on the ground = Match Box 20. Get it?

Mrs. Menehune and I spoke of doing it for years. Really enjoyable.

Saw ducks & ducklings, water snails & egg clusters, other birds, cool flora...

Same reason I didn't answer on the Portlock Spitting Cave photo before this one, as I used to go there a whole lot and sit and enjoy the sunsets. Your second photo of it showed people jumping in, and I do want to remind folks that many people have died right there. :(
But you're doing a great job with this thread, MM. Keep it up!

It's been quite some time since I been on that property in Kahala. So from the last time I was there, it was the Kahala Mandarin as I remembered it. Now that you have reminded and corrected me, yes, it is the Kahala Resort. I now vaguely recall reading about the sale of the hotel a few years back.

As for the photo I posted, yes, it is the light, but it is not in Waikiki. It's in Honolulu though! :)

There is space for about three cars to park and a Japanese Jizo (Guardian of the sea shrine (http://books.google.com/books?id=UZBH52mvyHgC&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false)). Walk past the shrine as far out to the tip that you feel comfortable. It's a great spot to view the Halona Blowhole (http://www.hawaiiweb.com/oahu/sites_to_see/halona_blow_hole.htm). I'll take a guess. It's near Iolani School, next to Manoa Stream (and the Ala Wai Golf Course across the way). I'm basing this on the background. That stretch is really beautiful. Mauka of the viaduct by the airport? I think that red/gray building behind it is a Nissan(?) dealer?

It must have been a real beauty at one time... just rotting away now. :( It's either a CT-54 or more likely a CT-65. Pretty boats, but not built well at all. Good liveaboards for a really cheap price, but don't take them out of the marina.

From the buildings in the background, and knowing where you've been - Sand Island. It looks like that structure is designed to be a locomotive on a playground.

Correct! Sand Island Park near the Honolulu Harbor entrance.
The playground train has been there for many years, but recently got a fresh coat of paint and then the graffitti art too.

Guess no one on HT has seen this bridge?
Park at the 'Lanai Lookout', carefully cross the busy road to a little valley, walk though the really cool tunnel and down to the shoreline. Always watch for waves while on any wet rocks, walk around to the left and you'll see this bridge and amazing views! Note: The bridge is just out of frame on the right from the photo in this link. http://www.shorediving.com/Earth/Hawaii/Oahu/Lanai_Lookout/pic6.htm

I took a picture of this years ago, but alas it was with a film camera and of course now I can't find the picture.

And yes, the last pic I posted is a warehouse. Where is it?

I just got tempbanned from a forum I have spent the last ten years on and I am really feeling hurt tonight. I decided to pop my head back in to HT and am thrilled to see a thread I started being bumped and still used so long after I was last here.

Sorry I don't spend so much time here. Thanks for the small piece of Aloha tonight.

Have fun.
