  • Nancy Mitford

Cheapo's at Puck's Alley has a collection of books for ONE DIME each. So you can take a chance, buy something you might not otherwise have selected and, if it's junk, just throw it away with no great loss.

On Saturday I picked Nancy Mitford's "Madame de Pompadour". Although it's history, it reads like an engrossing novel.

That's the sixth or seventh great dime's worth I've had during the summer sale.

(I did throw a few away after about twenty pages.)

    Re: Nancy Mitford

I bought a copy of Mitford's Pigeon Pie in 1999 at a Friends of the Hilo Public Library sale. I haven't yet read the whole thing, but I remember one phrase: search with industry (to search diligently).
