  • The veterans' cemetery that America forgot

"Clark Veterans Cemetery was consigned to oblivion in 1991, when Mount Pinatubo's gigantic eruption forced the U.S. to abandon the sprawling air base surrounding it.

"Retired U.S. soldiers, Marines and sailors volunteer to keep watch, relying on donations to try to maintain the grounds, but they lament that they're short on funds to fix things, and that Washington is unwilling to help.

"Dashing the hopes of the American veterans, the ABMC and the Department of Veterans Affairs, which manages 131 U.S. mainland cemeteries through an agency, both said Clark was outside their mandate."

    My, what a surprise.

Whatever happened to "Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another." ?????

Folks, make sure to BELIEVE what your government tells you. Then you can die in peace, courtesy of your government and its lies.

Actually, as far as I am concerned, "let the dead bury the dead." Though I am 'entitled' to a burial with full military honors, I'd rather be compost - at least that way I might make a difference.

I intend to be cremated - just doing my part to finish off the current ice age.
May I always be found beneath your contempt.

Although I respect your decision, and embrace it, what about the released carbon impact of cremation?

I cremated my dad & brother, buried my mother & other brother.
A drop in the bucket, right?

But, how many people, how much room left in the bucket, and "what's it all mean, Mr. Natural?"

Mr. Natural: "It don't mean shit."

        So, what DOES it mean?

Sometimes I'm glad I'm old enough to not have to experience the end.

        Drop me a note, OK?
