  • Building Don's Camper

We went to Sand Island Park and accomplished alot towards building his camper! He built the floor and truck bed walls yesterday. We got the cabin walls and strengtheners installed along with painting what we could before I had to go to work tonight. Tomorrows another day...

Something close to the camper below, but doesn't hang over the back.
We get to close the tailgate. Real cool!

Given what a great job he did in rebuilding the boat, I'm sure the camper will be just as terrific.
What made him decide to build a camper, though?

        1) It will be comfortable, but basic. Ice chest and coleman stove instead of built in fridge or stove.

        2) It's a rolling 'Dog House'... since he brings his dog Goldie everywhere he goes but can't always take her aboard someone's boat while working on it (he's gotten a few good projects already done for folks), or other places. And of course actually camping around the island is a plus too!

          Roof&SideVents

Don and I installed Two roof vents, two side vents, and two vents on the rear wall. Lots of air when parked now. Real cool.

Here's the Flickr set of the journey and more photos will be added till completion!

              Absolutely fantastic.

Nice work! That's one cool way of turning an oridinary p/up truck into a mobile man cave.

Hey MM, I saw Don and his camper a few days ago. Looked like he was just leaving the farmers market in Old Stadium Park. He was driving and I saw the dog in the middle. There was a passenger too. Was that you?
