  • Hawaiian Artifacts & Hui Malama

Can Hui Malama Na Kupuna O Hawaii Nei still be entrusted as receivers of Hawaiian artifacts if they cannot keep those artifacts from reaching the black market?

The fact that those artifacts got into an antique shop in the Big Island tells me Bishop Muesum did a better job of protecting them than Hui Malama and raises the hope that the muesum can become a Hawaiian group to oversee the safe disposition of Hawaiian artifacts.
Life is what you make of it...so please read the instructions carefully.

Yes indeed. The Museum is a much better steward. Their mandate is to care for antiquities without an agenda, something neither Hui Malama or any other one of these groups can claim.
