  • DSL Outage Adventure

Starting on Sunday evening my DSL service mysteriously stopped functioning.
The Ready light on the modem would not sync at all. I called Verizon tech support and they told me the line test looked fine...blah blah blah. Fast Forward 2 days, I had this sudden thought why don't I try another telephone cable.

So I swapped out the Verizon supplied telephone cable for mine. Presto
the modem ready light stopped flashing and I got back online. I called up
Verizon Tech support to cancel the truck roll and explained the situation
to tech person. He thought it was rather bizarre and use my suggestion when others have DSL trouble.

cabling problems is a common source of network failures. are you sure the cable was bad and wasn't merely loose?

That was one of inital things I did check. The connection between the
modem and wall was solid. The bizarre thing I was going to hook up
my analog modem to get online. Then I had to the brain flash to replace the cable between my Westell and the wall.
