Buttermilk with fries?

I thing I sort of noticed when I go to the Jack-in-the-Box at the corner of Kalakaua and South King that kids tend to ask for Buttermilk when they order fries. I don't know why and up until now I never bothered to post this question to the various discussion groups that I frequent.

Anyone got a clue?

Maybe they're trying to recreate Ranch dressing (which is made from buttermilk)? Actually, fries and Ranch dressing is rather tasty.

I'd rather have buttermilk and cornbread, but gotta move back to the Southland for that ....
