  • Verizon Online 3Mbps service

I upgraded this morning to the Verizon Online 3Mbps/768K service.
It was only 10.00 more a month if you locked into a year contract.
It seems much snappier the downloads compared to my old 1.5Mbps/384K
service. Anyway you need to call VOL at 1-800-567-6789 and ask for
Verizon billing if you want to upgrade.

Interesting. Too bad Verizon doesn't do it for free.

About a year ago, here the SF bay area, my ISP (comcast) gave customers a free upgrade to 3Mbps. A buddy of mine in LA got a 6Mbps for free!! Lucky guy...

      Is it worth it?

We already have everything with verizon (almost everything, we don't have cell phone service, but we do have caller ID, fax and DSL) and our bills are high because of it. Unless I'll be setting up an online server anytime soon (which I can't because I don't have the equipment) then maybe, but not right now.
How'd I get so white and nerdy?

When I had Road Runner they upgraded us from 2Mbps to 3Mbps for free.
But for me what is an extra 10.00 a month when you can double your speeds.

Yes it is definately worth it, I essentially doubled my speeds for only
10.00 a month. If you have a Westell DSL modem it is pretty my seamless
transition. I was only down for 5 or so minutes. If you have a Fujitsu
DSL modem you might down for 10 days.

Why the large difference you ask ? the Fujitsu DSL Modem works over
only Frame Relay. The Westell DSL Modem works over the more better
and efficient ATM network. They have to basically re-provision your
circuit at the CO if you wanted 3Mbps service and you were using a Fujitsu
          Modem.
