the movie came from the director of Hero. Much like Hero, HOFD makes excellent use of color.

the story is simple yet emotionally moving. i liked it better than Hero because of the emotions i felt.

this movie was much better than Hero, imo.

WOW!. Dang!. I really can't believe that no one has heard of that movie or actually have seen it. Goodness, me.

I saw that movie in that 50 cent/Dollar movie theater, & I thought it was great!.

I can quite agree with you easTTriver!.

I don't know why no one have heard of it &/or have seen it.
I guess they are not as enthusiastic as you & I are.

Sorry gang, but that is just MHO.

Who said no one's seen it? No one else has commented about it, true...

      That could be it.

We have both movies coming up on our Netflix queue, and will watch them in sequence, probably. We liked "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," of course, so we know we like the style and flights of fantasy that are Zhang Yimou's style.

A friend of mine is part of an incredible local network of Chinese/Asian movie fans that collect stuff from Hong Kong and pass it around town months or even years before an American distributor brings it to our multiplexes. He was raving about all three of these films before anyone had heard of 'em.

It was really good, but I thought everyone knew that so it didn't warrant a big discussion. But what is it with Chinese films that most of them end as tragedies? Is it part of the national psyche?

          ahh.... Glen...

I can't really answer that last question, but.....

I saw this movie :Ong Bak Thai Warrior,

The whole story line was pretty good. The main character

didn't die, but lived at the end, infact has a good ending.

Between Ong Bak & House of th Flying daggers,
I would choose the 2nd movie, House of the Flying Daggers.

I still reccomend to any one to check out both movies,(if you can) any way.

          Aloha.
