  • Road Runner 5Mbps Upgrade Problems ?

I have been reading alot of complaints of inconsistent speeds ever since Oceanic upgraded to 5Mbps. Anyone else has noticed wildly inconsistent
speeds. I'm just curious to help out a friend who has Road Runner ?

Here is an example of what i'm talking about :

Just a FYI : here is a thread on inconsistent speeds being suffered by Hawaii Road Runner users.

So how do I check how fast my RR is running? I did the unplug to reboot thingy but I have no idea if it's going faster or not.

My download number never breaks 1800/ upload number stays around 355. That's at the lax.speakeasy.net and sfo.speakeasy.net .

Not tech savvy but is that 1.8 Mbps? Modem is the Toshiba PCX2500.

Re: Road Runner 5Mbps Upgrade Problems ?

Yes that is 1.8Mbps, which is half of what your supposed to be getting.

            1. First suggestion go here http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks to make sure
            your properly tweaked.

            2. Use this program http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp to tweak your RWIN
to 64420.Make sure to reboot your computer

After that try the speedtests and see if that helps. It probably will to a degree.
It won't fix the problems in the network.

Re: Road Runner 5Mbps Upgrade Problems ?

This was done five minutes ago:
              speakeasy.sfo.... 4199/357, 4199/357
              speakeasy.lax.... 4303/355, 4289/359

I got a reading of 4475/348 via the speakeasy link but on the speedtest page but doesn't say SFO or LAX

That is much better speeds. But it might be wise to monitor your speeds
                for any significant inconsistencies.
