    Congrats to the folks at the Hawaii Open Source Education Foundation. They do lots of good stuff, mostly behind the scenes, but every so often, someone notices.

    Scott Belford is on a mission: Show youngsters how to get what they want out of life by teaching them everything they need to know about using and putting together computers. He teaches Computer Guts for free to nonprofit organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii because he always wanted to be a teacher.
    Interestingly, the article doesn't note one of the key characteristics of HOSEF: its use of open source software like Linux. That's one of the ways they can afford to donate working computers to schools, because setting up Microsoft Windows workstations would cost thousands of dollars per site... and prematurely teach kids to live within the constraints of Bill Gates' universe.
