Rusti's home cost

Why the hell does it cost over $500,000 to build Rusti a home at the zoo? With that kind of money humans can build a home that is comforting and something to be proud of . I just don't get it. Who sets the prices for these things anyway? Maybe we should call Ty at Extreme Makeover to build Rusti a home. Lord knows he deserves it.

as a month-to-month renter a bad month away from indigence, i also question the wisdom of spending that much on a habitat for an orangutan, as aopposed to something that would get humans off of the street (even though i think rusti deserves the best an ape can get)...but the money was ponied up by the orangutan foundation international and other private donors...imagine the fallout if the city had coughed that up!
