Hello from Waikiki

Hello!

I'm a native haole, born here, dad taught at Iolani, raised mostly on the Mainland, and I just came home permanently last August.

Wow, talk about change. I'm barely making here in Waikiki, but I wouldn't live anywhere else. There's always something interesting going on here: crazy homeless people ranting on the corner; lost tourists seeking help to get them on their way; celebrity sightings; whatever. I love Waikiki!

I'm an editor and writer by trade, but am doing anything I can to make a living (ok, maybe not anything). It ain't easy, but I'm sticking with it.

I just found this forum today, and you all seem like a nice lot, so I signed up.

Hope you feel welcome and open for ranting and sharing as much as ya like here. We are a motley crew and we all do like the Stones, also, especially while drinking cocktails, on the beach or off, while writing. I live in Waikiki too (for the past 2.5 years), near Local Motion/Tony Roma's. I must agree that I share your vice for a good cocktail. :-) If it weren't for my having to work, in fact, I'd be having one this afternoon over at Indigo happy hour with some of my gal pals.

As for me, I'm 26/f/Indian descent/from OH and in the medical field.

Just curious.. have you tried any temp agencies? Seems ideal with the writing/secretary.. as you'd be able to do the word processing and probably other software programs - excel, powerpoint, etc., perhaps?

I'm just curious.. as thats my starting plan when I do first get there.

I was born and raised on Oahu. Met haole hubby while he was stationed out of Schofield. We have two hapa-haole daughters and a new grand-daughter. Now live on the East Coast. Trying to travel to Hawaii to visit with the ohana every year.

I'm a golf nut and try not to shop while PMS'ing as I get really nasty in stores/public places!
