  • GIANT catfish!

In case any of you missed it on the news, there was a 646-pound catfish (about the size of a grizzly bear!) that was caught in Thailand this past week. Check out the photo at http://ftp2.nationalgeographic.com/p...antCatfish.jpg and the stories at http://www.worldwildlife.org/news/di...earchen=google and at http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117...-13762,00.html .

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

They say that they ate the thing. Wow, I wonder how many people that fed and what cooking method they used. That must have been one big party.

      That thing...is scary

I like to eat fish and all, but they really freak me out otherwise. Never had catfish before, though. Must've tasted good, heh.

As a fisherman who's caught quite a few catfish, always by mistake, they aren't the best eating-usually a dark red flesh with a muddy flavor. And their eel-like slimy skin has to be literally pulled off with pliers.
I would only consider eating a farm-raised corn fed 2-3 pound channel catfish
and it still wouldn't approach the pink sweet flesh of a rainbow trout or the flaky white flesh of a smallmouth bass.
