  • Ancient drivers

    http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/ar.../br/br08p.html :

"The city Medical Examiner's office has identified Ruby F*******, 85, as the pedestrian who was killed Thursday while walking across Wai'alae Avenue in Kaimuki.
    (...)
"The driver of the vehicle, a 90-year-old woman, was not injured.
"According to police, speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident."

I haven't decided whether to make jokes about that very last sentence or to howl about requiring driving tests for those over, say, 65. Or both.
Y'all go ahead and run with one or the other.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

    Re: Ancient drivers

I'm confused. I just saw a "breaking news" item on the Star-Bulletin's website: http://starbulletin.com/breaking/breaking.php?id=3638

"Posted on: Friday, July 22, 2005 12:19 PM HST

"An 85-year-old woman was in critical condition after she was hit by a car yesterday morning in Kaimuki."

So the Advertiser's morning edition said she died but the Star-Bulletin posts a breaking news item after noon saying she's in critical condition? Somebody's got some 'splaining to do, Lucy!
