  • bluegrass anyone?

from the friday edition of the star bulletin:
    http://starbulletin.com/calendars/music.html

Oahu's music community will get a rare opportunity to do a little pickin' with a pair of professional bluegrass musicians from North Carolina, Lorraine Jordan and Tom Langdon.

North Carolina native Jordan is a bluegrass band leader whose original tune, "Lessons From the Book," took second place in the 2005 Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at MerleFest. Her band, Carolina Road, is a past nominee of the International Bluegrass Music Association's Emerging Artist of the Year Award. Accompanying Jordan will be her husband, Langdon, a banjo player with Carolina Sonshine, a Gospel bluegrass group.

Bluegrass Hawaii Traditional & Bluegrass Music Society will host the event. Musicians with unplugged traditional instruments and who play bluegrass, newgrass, mountain, traditional country, Hawaiian, Americana, folk, Western, Celtic and Irish music are all welcome. Bring a lawn chair or blankets, sunscreen and a picnic lunch.

» Place: Old Stadium Park, corner of South King and Isenberg streets
    » Time: 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday (today!)
    » Admission: Free
