  • Island Air offers free standby

Island Air is capitalizing on the greed of Aloha and Hawaiian by instituting free standby privileges on its flights. Maybe if enough people start flying Island Air, both Aloha and Hawaiian will have to change on their policy of no standbys without paying a fee. I think it's stupid that they changed their policy in the first place. Hopefully, the locals flying interisland will vote with their pocketbooks and fly IslandAir.

"...The policy applies to same-day standby travel for ticketed passengers, the third largest local carrier said. Passengers who can't make their scheduled departure can choose to stand by for another flight to the same destination anytime that day without paying a fee, regardless of their ticket class.

"This new standby option is a great tool for business travelers as well as leisure travelers," said Island Air CEO Rob Mauracher. "Business travelers have constant changes in their schedules, so this gives passengers the flexibility to try to get on an earlier or later flight that day without paying a fee." ..."
