Re: Top 10 Albums of all-time...

A great selection, all of which I'd be happy to hear again.

    My own list:

Jefferson Starship: Blows Against the Empire
    Rolling Stones: Aftermath
    Fleetwood Mac: Rumours
    Rolling Stones: Sticky Fingers
    Jimi Hendrix: Are You Experienced
    Woodstock
The Greaseband (self-titled, I think, the only album they did without Cocker)
Cat Stevens, but I can't single out one of them, so I'll just say all of
them and let it end my list

      >> Jefferson Starship <<

MTV (or maybe VH-1) has been airing a show recently called The Worst Songs Of All Time, and the Starship's "We Built This City" came in as the #1 Worst Song ever. Go figure. I liked the hell out of it!

      >> The Greaseband (self-titled, I think, the only album they did without Cocker) <<

Joe Cocker now runs a bed & breakfast in Crawford, Colorado!
      .
      .

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I'm sure if I thought about it, I could come up with a thoroughly cool and colorful list, but off the top of my head over my late lunch break, I've got:
        1. Debut by Bjork
        2. IV (Symbols) by Led Zeppelin
        3. Lincoln by They Might be Giants
        4. Gordon by Barenaked Ladies
        5. Play by Moby
        6. 40 oz. to Freedom by Sublime
        7. Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins
        8. Cross of Changes by Enigma
        9. Smash by Offspring
        10. Hapa (Eponymous)
These aren't in order or preference or anything, obviously. Hell, I had five more already lining up in my head. The "final list" would probably have a little more Hawaiian (older stuff), some old ska (Dancehall Crashers), and maybe techno (Prodigy).

Re: Top 10 Albums of all-time...

I have a Top 30 List of all time, but from that list here are my Top 10 albums... of all time... at least for now. The albums occasionally change on my list but not by much. Over the years I have enjoyed the following:

            1. Abbey Road - The Beatles (1969)
            2. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John (1973)
            3. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac (1977)
            4. Sgt. Peppers’ Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles (1967)
            5. Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac (1975)
            6. Band on the Run - Paul McCartney & Wings (1974)
            7. A Hard Days’ Night - The Beatles (1964)
            8. Revolver - The Beatles (1966)
            9. Parallel Lines - Blondie (1979)
            10. Led Zeppelin IV - Led Zeppelin (1971)
            I'm still here. Are you?

              >> Jefferson Starship <<

I heard about this, was baffled. Not one of my favorite Starship tracks but ye gods, they had SO many other options. Little Richard and "Tutti Frutti", the Beatles and "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", etc. etc. But okay, my choice would be Sonny and Cher's "You Got Me Babe".

              >> The Greaseband (self-titled, I think, the only album they did without Cocker) <<

"Joe Cocker now runs a bed & breakfast in Crawford, Colorado!"

I loved his band, but was not really a Cocker fan. Even so, seems a waste.

But then, I hear, we have Harold Kama, Jr. and John Feary, two of the most talented young local musicians in these islands, driving Budweiser delivery trucks.

              [sigh deeply]

Can't argue with most of your suggestions. For me the Velvet Underground album featuring Nico(with the Warhol banana on the cover) would have to be up there.

                            • Duran Duran, Rio (1983 US Remaster)
                            • Kronos Quartet, Black Angels
                            • John Zorn, Naked City
                            • Cocco, Bougainvillia
                            • Emmylou Harris, Wrecking Ball
                            • Robin Holcomb, Robin Holcomb

Truthfully, the last five spots are up for grabs, because there's a lot of stuff I wouldn't mind sneaking in -- the Sugarcubes' Life's Too Good, Camper Van Beethoven's Key Lime Pie, Wayne Horvitz's Miracle Mile, Talitha Mackenzie's Solas, Midnight Oil's Diesel and Dust ...

                              "Emmylou Harris, Wrecking Ball"

Love that woman, but I think "Band of Angels" has to be my favorite.
