Ray Bumatai dies at 52. His awesome talent will be greatly missed. My sympathies go out to Andy and Ray's 'ohana.

Re: Entertainer Ray Bumatai
my sister in chicago called me with the news this morning...she was crying...ray was the one who encouraged her to get into improv comedy, something at which she has excelled in the toughest town in the world to get recognized...he was an inspiration to her, and allthough i met the man only once, i feel i owe him a great debt for giving my sister the confidence to pursue her natural talents...he recognized them before even i did...
aloha ray, and thank you for what you've done...Don't be mean,
try to help.

had a behind the scenes clip of him shooting the "Lets talk story" tv show when he played in da Lemon Tree billiards parlor story.
(remember that, sue?)
BTW..."Lemon Tree..." won the Golden Maile Hawai'i Filmmaker's Award at the 1996 Hawaii Int'l Film Festival. I hope there will be some sort of tribute to Ray at this year's event.
'Fraid you'll need to refresh my memory about "Let's Talk Story"! Was that the morning talk show with Cynthia Yip?

Originally posted by kimo55at the risk of having you be innundated with requests, you sent me a 3rd gen dub (which looked fine, btw) years ago, of a tv show called let's talk stiory. don't know of any other connection to the show. This ep was the lemon tree billiards story...

Another episode was "Dancing with the Long Bone", co-starring Henry 'Kapono" Kaaihue and Karen Keawehawaii.
The 3rd episode, "True Love and Mimosa Tea", premiers at HIFF. It's mentioned in the HIFF thread on HT.
